My name is Mitchell McClain.  I am an illustrator and designer from the midwest;  my focus is primarily with ink and other traditional mediums.  My interests include collecting old and vintage treasures, reconstructing context, and everything to do with card games.

I've spent the last 3+ years working on TOWER: Dark Age as a solo developer with the goal of  creating a simple concept with a world of depth and replay-ability.  To achieve this goal, the game was built upon an abstraction of UNO, to introduce a sense of familiarity.  From there it was married to select elements of deck-builder games, trading card games, "pick 3" roguelike games, and probability gambling.  The result was an unholy child that was soo compelling and addicting to play that I quit my job just because I wanted it to see the world, regardless of the outcome.

This game's visual aesthetic and artwork has been the biggest selling point (over 1700 hours of artwork!).  I had utilized heavy inspiration from Tarot, the early esoteric and occult imagery of Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic The Gathering, the artwork of late Kentaro Miura, the artwork of Santiago Caruso, and 1st edition Dungeons & Dragons artwork, to name a few.

(Thank you to all of the friends that have made this possible. Special thanks to

Ben Harvey and Daniel Engel for helping me bring forth the final iteration.)
